Bill & Sukie Barber
Spean Bridge, by Fort William
Inverness-shire PH34 4EG

Welcome to Old Pines, our family home in the heart of the Highlands near to Fort William. Dinner, bed and breakfast at Old Pines is an experience not to be missed. Flowers and plants fill the award winning restaurant dining room and in the sitting rooms there are cosy corners and comfy sofas with masses of books to read and, when the need arises, log fires to warm your toes.

The house was built about 20 years ago in a Scandinavian style with recent stone and wood additions and situated north of the village of Spean Bridge, just 300 yards below the famous Commando Memorial on the B8004 road to Gairlochy. Set among mature Scots Pines in 30 acres of ground, we enjoy fine views across the Great Glen and Glen Spean to Aonach Mor and Ben Nevis (Britain’s highest mountain).

We offer a complete no extras package of dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation and, with just eight rooms, you can be sure of our individual attention. We honestly believe that what we offer is just that little bit different, all the comforts of a Hotel with none of that 'Hotel Feeling'. We pride ourselves on combining a warm and friendly welcome with a truly relaxing and informal atmosphere.
Dining at Old Pines

In the award winning dining room much use is made of local fresh products with daily deliveries of trout, salmon, mussels, langoustines, sea fish from Mallaig, venison and, of course, the best of Scottish beef and lamb. We also smoke our own trout and salmon and make all our own bread, pasta, ice cream and preserves. These ingredients are presented with care and imagination to produce memorable meals in a magical setting. We have a well researched wine list (its tough but someone had to do all that tasting) at reasonable prices and some interesting Scottish bottled beers.

As "The Taste of Scotland" inspector wrote of Old Pines - "Outstanding sophisticated Scottish Cuisine. To dine here is to experience the very best of Scottish food, cooked superbly by Sukie who brings unlimited enthusiasm and skill to her craft."
